National Minimum Wage Increase
1st October 2008 Minimum wage rise for all work seekers
An increase to the NMW came into effect from 1st October 2008, taking the rate for workers aged 22 years and above to £5.73 per hour. The development rate for 18 – 21year olds is now £4.77 per hour and for all workers under 18 years, who are no longer of compulsory school age, the rate is £3.53 per hour.
