Hello everyone! My name is Abi, and I am a new Recruitment Administrator Apprentice here at Jobseekers. I’ve decided to create a blog to share my journey of the things I learn here, what I do, and what it’s like to work here! I hope you find interest in joining me along the way. I’ll be doing a blog each month on how things are going, which will be sent in the newsletter via email as well, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
Today we’ll be keeping it short and sweet, and I’ll simply be discussing what my main tasks have been so far, and some information about me, so you can get to know me better.
So, let’s go from the beginning! I joined Jobseekers mid-July, and quickly found my feet thanks to the warm and caring guidance from my colleagues. Being mainly mentored by Sarah, I have learned quickly. My main tasks within my role are currently: social media management, advertising, marketing and administrative tasks such as taking ID, scanning and phone calls (despite a slight hiccup with our phone systems!).
But what about me? Who am I? Well, I thought I could do a little list of fun facts about me (courtesy of some fun little get-to-know-me questions I found online) so you have a better understanding of who you may be working with when in contact with us!
What are my hobbies?
I’ve always enjoyed art (painting, drawing), performing arts (I used to do a lot of drama in school) and writing, mainly. However, I also consider myself a bit of a nerd and love video games and history!
What is my favourite animal?
Tigers! Siberian, specifically. That came from watching a TV programme called Tigers About The House, where an Australian zookeeper raised baby tigers in his house before returning them to the zoo. I’ve loved them ever since. However, I am also very much a cat person; I love cats a lot!
What is my favourite season?
Summer, definitely. I enjoy the warmth, the ice cream, and that freeing feeling you get towards the evenings when there’s a nice breeze. Despite also being a huge Christmas lover, I’d have to stick with summer.
What is my favourite movie/TV show?
I personally am a big fan of Game of Thrones and am currently watching The Walking Dead (and loving it!). I quite like shows set in older times or dystopian worlds – I find it interesting to think about what I’d do in such circumstances.
Do I collect anything?
Yes! I don’t quite know why, but I have an entire drawer of scented candles. Something about them just draws me to buy them, I think. It means my room smells nice though!
