With over 30 years experience our client have built up a strong reputation as a leading B2B supplier. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance the Health and Safety culture of their business.
The successful candidate will work alongside and support the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, ensuring safe practices on all sites controlled by my client in liaison with the relevant department Managers. The role will also cover a variety of areas within the business and part of the role will also involve supporting the facilities team ensuring environmental compliance, assisting with contractor management, and general administration.
The role:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programmes to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards
Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed
Manage the procurement, issue and record keeping
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures to reduce recurrence.
Develop and maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports and inspection findings. Stay informed about new developments in safety regulations, technologies, best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Conduct, record and manage risk assessments identifying suitable and sufficient controls.
Liaise with the Facilities Management and Training teams and support where necessary.
Support with the management of fire safety at all their sites.
Knowledge, skills, and experience required:
Essential:
An IOSH, NCRQ, NEBOSH or similar qualification in safety management.
At least 2 years experience in a similar role
Have the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
Ability to keep up to date with knowledge of health and safety requirements and legislation changes
Proven ability to eliminate/mitigate risks in the workplace
Full Driving Licence without restrictions.
Physically fit and able to be on your feet for periods of time and able to work at height
Desirable:
Experience of warehousing and office activities
Material Handling Equipment Licence (forklifts etc)
Knowledge of human ergonomics or advanced manual handing management
Experience of working at height
Experience with CoSHH and the suitable controls
Full time – 40 hours p.w (100% site based) Monday to Friday
Salary C. GBP30000/GBP32000 + great benefits
