Jobseekers Recruitment supports a charity organisation every year by donating a sum of money for every permanent placement they make. We highly value the local community and take pleasure in contributing towards helping those in need. This year, we will be supporting the local Taunton and Somerset branch of the Samaritans by covering one call for each placement we make.
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. Day or night, they are there for anyone who is struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Offering listening and support to people and communities in times of need. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Looking for a new job, or being in work can be very stressful especially alongside the general pressures we all have, and so we feel this is a very fitting charity for us to support.
Taunton and Somerset branch have around 100 volunteers, who provide an incredibly valuable service, each year dealing with around 40,000 calls. In addition to the calls, the branch also helps at the local food bank, and supports local Schools, Companies, and Prisons plus many others.
Recently, Sarah met up with two volunteers to chat through their time with the Samaritans and to find out more about what they get up to! Over the next 12 months, we will be sharing videos and information to support the charity and raise awareness alongside the donations. Each branch is self-funded and so they have to raise all the money themselves in order to run, which is over £100 per day!
