Director of Somerset-based recruitment company reveals his business’s new year’s resolution is to “go green”.
Taunton, Somerset (UK): Jobseekers Recruitment Services Ltd., specialists in the commercial recruitment sector, are determined to bring about positive change in 2021. They are committed, going forwards, to making their operations more sustainable.
Company Director, John Farmer, said: “Making decisions with the environment in mind is something that we have the opportunity to do and therefore influence directly. It may be small, but collectively, I believe that it does make a difference – not just now but for future generations as well.”
Since Lockdown 1, it has become apparent that remote working is beneficial for the environment; cutting out morning and evening commutes lowers carbon emissions, and energy output decreases when offices are closed. Although it has been an integral part of Jobseekers business process for many years, consultants recognise that, despite its “greenness”, it does not tick every “considerate employer” or “effective operator” box. This was proved by last year’s periods of confinement. As such, the company has decided to adopt a hybrid approach, to protect the physical and mental well-being of all its staff and to ensure the delivery of the same outstanding service they have always prided themselves on providing.
With this in mind, they have made a number of changes to their office building in recent weeks, to guarantee it is running at peak efficiency. As well as this, they’ve introduced further measures that are all aimed at cutting their carbon footprint. It may only be the first week in January, but they have already taken the following steps towards becoming ecologically friendly:
· Switched energy supply to Octopus Energy. They’re providers of 100% green electricity, who were awarded the Renewable Energy Association’s prize for the company that’s done the most to advance UK renewables in 2019.
· Installed latest in energy-efficient lighting throughout their office building.
· Ditched the plastic and sent out two-year calendars that are not only made from recycled materials, but are also re-recyclable after use, using local company, Brightsea Print Group. Brightsea are FSC® and PEFC certified.
· Implemented a walk or cycle to work scheme, as backed by the British Government.
